Narine's dilemma: IPL or Home team

Sunil Narine has now in a big dilemma whether to play IPL final or to attend a camp for selection of West Indies team to battle with New Zealand.

If the spinner remains in India to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in Sunday's IPL 2014 final, as he wants to, he will miss the West Indies Cricket Board's June 1 deadline for joining the selection camp for the home series against New Zealand, disqualifying him from selection.

Speaking by telephone from his Kolkata office yesterday, Knight Riders' chief executive officer Venky Mysore spoke on Narine's behalf.

"This is in no way an act of defiance by Sunil," Mysore said. "He is seeking the board's flexibility for a couple of days leeway so that he can turn out for Knight Riders on Sunday.

"He has told us that he came to do a job and wants to see it through to its conclusion. He also wants to represent West Indies against New Zealand. You can understand the quandary that he is in."

Without Narine, West Indies would be short of a key bowler who has made his reputation principally in the shorter versions of the game (he is ranked No.3 in ODIs and No.2 in T20 Internationals by the ICC), but who has 18 of his 23 Test wickets against New Zealand, in two matches in the Caribbean in 2012 and one in New Zealand last December.

Indian team announced for England Tests Gambhir IN, Zaheer OUT

The 18 members Indian squad for  5-tests with England has been announced which were to be held in July. Unfortunately Zaheer Khan who is a prominent player for India in Test Cricket couldn't come back to final squad where Gautam Gambhir once again making his way with Indian squad, who last played Tests for India in December 2012.

The biggest talking point was the exclusion of Zaheer. A series of injury problems had raised questions over the 35-year-old Zaheer's ability to last a Test series and though he dispelled those worries by bowling 107 overs in the two Tests against New Zealand earlier this year, a back injury forced him to miss almost the entire India leg of the IPL. It is still unclear whether Zaheer has missed out due to the injury, or whether he has been dropped.

Pankaj has been rewarded for several successful seasons on the domestic circuit, including 39 wickets at 22.46 in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy, now selected to make his International Debue in tests. If Pankaj gets to play a Test, he will become the India bowler with most first-class wickets before Test debut, 300, beating R Vinay Kumar's 241.

India have not played a five-Test series in more than a decade, the last was against West Indies in 2002. India have not won a Test abroad in three years, and have lost away series to South Africa and New Zealand in the past six months, causing them to slide to No. 5 in the ranking.

The complete Indian Squad is as follows:

MS Dhoni (capt. & wk), M Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Gautam Gambhir, Cheteshwar Pujara,
Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ishwar Pandey, Ishant Sharma, Stuart Binny, Varun Aaron, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Pankaj Singh.

This is a great comeback to Raina who was dropped in Asia cup but now he has given captaincy to lead India during the absence of captain Ms Dhoni and vice-captain Virat Kohli.

Robin Uthappa, the Orange Cap holder in this current IPL season, has made a comeback into the Indian team after a gap of two years.

Kedar Jadhav and Akshar Patel will be making debue in International Cricket to the Indian team after very impressive performances in the Indian domestic circket.

Glenn Maxwell's transformation led by coach Darren Lehmann

The Australian All-rounder had caught every ones sight with his extraordinary batting performance in this IPL-7. He is also a leading run scorer in this ongoing series.

Maxwell, struggled to hold a firm place in the national team after criticizing publicly of his stroke play and repetitive failures by coach Darren Lehmann a former Australian cricketer, coach
earlier this year.

“Maxwell has to finish those games off for us,” said Lehmann. “He is a batting all-rounder but has to show the responsibility to bat at No.6. We know he has the flair and excitement, and love that about him, but we want him to understand the game better.” he added.

Maxwell, 25 had been subject to criticism by the Indian media last year when he failed to justify his value of $1 million in the IPL after being chosen by the Mumbai Indians. The Victorian born was described as a “million dollar waste”.

When asked if he expected another million dollar cheque by any franchise for IPL 2014, Maxwell jokingly said, “Not this year,”

Kings XI Punjab, owned by Priety Zinta, Ness Wadia and other members showed faith in Maxwell by announcing him as a permanent installation in the team. Innovative and fearless Maxwell has been awarded 'Man of the Match' for majority of the matches that he has played for KXIP in this season.

Therefore, it would not be wrong to say that Lehmann's words led to a beautiful transformation of Maxwell, which is currently being witnessed in the form of his massive and confident hitting in the IPL tournament.

malinga and perera does it for lanka

Lasith Malinga and Thisara perera makes it easy with ball and bat for the Srilankan's to win the onlyt20 match against England at the oval on tuesday.

England won the toss and Morgan decided  to field first. Gurney playing his debut match and Jordan took early wickets of Dilshan and Kushala Perera and put lankans into pressure but slowly Vithanage and Lahiru thirimanne put down a partnership of 54 runs from 37 balls which took out the pressure and later Woakes sent Vithange to the pavilion. Dinesh Chandimal again disappointed with a single digit score of 7. Then comes Angelo Mathews, who put a partnership of 37 runs from 27 deliveries with Thirimanne and returns back very quickly without entertaining the audience in his style.

Now comes the crucial man, Thisara Perera. The score was 122 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of 15th over. the england bowlers could not expect a score more than 150 as thirmanne was a bit tired. Its time for Thisara Perera who showed what he is capable of. He slammed the balls that he faced and scored 49 of just 20 deliveries which includes 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. It was woakes and perera started his account by hitting a Four and a Six in that over. Then Jordan makes it tough as he conceded only 4 runs in his over. Gurney in his next over took the wicket of thirimanne which was delightful for england but perera did not care about that and hit two fours in his over. the 18th over was the biggest of the innings which was of Jordan. Perera smashed 4 Fours and a Six in the 19th over which added 22 runs to their score board. and the last over was bowled by Gurney who conceded 9 runs in that over and perera was out in the last ball.
The total score was 183/7.

Its time now for England for chasing. Carberry and Alex Hales came down and Nuwan Khulasekhara started the innings with the ball. Angelo Mathews got the wicket of Carberry which was very exciting for the lankans as its the england pitch. then comes Ian Bell who is playing his international t20 after 3 years. both put down a partnership of 36 runs from 25 balls and Bell returns very soon with a score of 13 from 17 balls as Malinga is into the action. Joe Root And the skipper Eon Morgan returns very quick to the pavilion as the lankan bowlers are showing their bowling tricks which are not working on hales.

Now comes Jos Buttler who joined Alex hales and both of them were hitting in it looked as if it was a power play. they scored 39 runs in just 24 deliveries and got the game into their hands but very soon Khulsaekhara was brought into attavk which worked it out for the lankans. he sent buttler back who scored 26 runs from 16 deliveries which included 4 Fours. and the game came into the hands of lankans. Malinga made it easy for the Lankans. he sent Alex Hales in the very next over who was the only batsmen who fought from the start of the innings. He scored 66 from just 41 balls which included 7 Fours and 2 big Sixes. RAvi Bopara came in the end and fought well with his 28 of 15 deliveries with a six and 3 Fours but couldn't make it out for england.

And the Sri Lankans prooved once again that they are the world t20 champions.

India tour to Bangladesh after IPL-7

India will tour Bangladesh for a 3-match ODI series after IPL-7 and before departure for England. The final of IPL 7 will be played on June 1 while the team will leave for England on June 22. Now, 3 ODIs with Bangladesh have been scheduled in Dhaka on June 15, 17 and 19.

According to ESPNcrincinfo, the tour was agreed upon in February by the two boards, and the formalities were completed during this April’s ICC executive board meeting, and both the skipper MS Dhoni and his deputy Virat Kohli will be unavailable for this short tour.

Dhoni has already planned a family vacation during that period and BCCI also believe in resting the captain before a hectic international schedule which ends with 2015 World Cup. But the ace batsman Kohli too has indicated it to the BCCI hierarchy the need of a break before the long and hectic international season, and is likely to miss the tour.
